Water stains can appear all over your home, though they are much more likely to occur in places like your bathroom or kitchen sink and in your shower. While water stains may be a part of life that you can’t really get rid of unless you change your water system, there are some simple tricks you can use to make them disappear. Just figure out what type of water stain you have and work from there.
Hard Water Stains
Hard water stains have a tendency to look particularly bad and build in places like your shower or bathtub. Unfortunately, getting rid of hard water stains for good isn’t easy unless you install a soft water system. This can be beneficial, but until you do, use this method to get rid of hard water stains when they’re just too ugly to bear:
Combine 1 part warm vinegar with 1 part liquid dish soap. Pour this mixture into a spray bottle and spray it on hard water stains. Allow the mixture to rest on the surface that you’re cleaning for about 30- 45 minutes. For a lot of hard water buildup, let the mixture sit for at least 60 minutes. Rub the mixture off with a microfiber cloth and you’ll have a brand new looking surface.
Regular Water Stains
Regular water stains are generally easier to deal with than hard water stains. However, they do require a certain mixture to be taken care of efficiently.
To get rid of regular water stains, combine two tablespoons baking soda with 1/2 cup white vinegar. Rub the mixture onto the stained area and allow it to rest for about 20 minutes. Rub the mixture off with a clean sponge and warm water. Dry the surface you just cleaned with a towel to make sure the rinse water doesn’t leave marks.
